The Reign of the Iron Duke

It is the year of our lord 2010...

The year has brought turbulent changes to the walls of the Border City, brought on terrible tides the world over as it is rumoured the mythical Clan Founders are waking. The dawn of this new decade leaves behind the crumbling edifices that were once the great sects of the Camarilla and the Sabbat. Instead they are replaced with neo-feudal fiefdoms ruled by Elders and Methuselah’s in a modern day return to the War of Princes. Across the globe some fear the beginning of Gehenna, while others believe that day is yet to come. They too fear because they believe the rising of the Ancients signifies a new stage in the Jyhad, one that will dominate the next few centuries by the masters and their inscrutable moves.

But such world-spanning webs of intrigue are far from the minds of Carlisle's vampires. Here on the edge of civillisation, where the Romans halted and declared "The Empire Ends Here!", they must contend with more immediate concerns. The Iron Duke Hancock has taken the Throne, sweeping aside the maddened reign of Baron Tristan Kael and the shadowed tyranny of Prince Nicholas Negroni. The Iron Duke has proclaimed that the Kindred will relcaim their position as Lords of the Night and take back the city from the myriad supernaturals and oddities that prey upon it's streets. That the nights of betrayal and selfish squander will be learned from and the Court made strong again. Pledged to the Baronies of Avalon, ruled by the Eternal-Prince Mithras, the city has declared itself the last bastion of the Ventrue Methuselah's lands and it is the rock all opposition will shatter upon.

Betrayal and selfishness flow strongly in Kindred blood however and like all congregations of vampires the Court is rife with intrigue, politics and opportunities for Enlightened Self-Interest. To the West lies the Voivodate of West Cumbria, rural lands claimed by the Tzimisce Voivode Bartholomew and his former-Sabbat followers. To the North a new threat emerges, where once the highlands of Scotland were Sabbat territory the Lord Charles de Sourriére of Clan Lasombra has reforged them into the Magister-dominated Protectorate of Caledonia.
