Welcome to the Carlisle by Night Wiki

Originally founded as the Roman fortress of Luguvalium, the city of Carlisle has existed for some two millennia. While Celtic Magi and savage Werewolves roamed the lands that are now Cumbria long before the Romans arrived, the city itself has felt the influence of Caine's brood at work for as long as it has existed. During the course of its long history Carlisle has suffered under numerous wars and seiges, and gone from economic powerhouse to the edge of bankruptcy and back again. In the modern nights Carlisle is a faded domain; the glory days of its role as a crucial transport nexus for Scotland and England have gone, and over the last century repeated (but largely unsuccessful) attempts have been made to revive the city's economic power.

For the Kindred, this place is at once a frontier and a sanctuary.

The great sects have fallen, leaving the Isles of Britain to be claimed and divided by inscrutable elders. The northern realms of Scotland have fallen under the rule of Lord Charles de Sourriére of Clan Lasombra, transforming the murderous Sabbat of the Highlands into the Protectorate of Caledonia. Where once the lands of England were a stronghold of the Camarilla they have been seized as the Baronies of Avalon by the ancient Eternal-Prince Mithras. With the battle-lines drawn local Princes, Barons and Dukes find no choice but to pledge their lands and fiefs to their elders for protection. And protection is sorely needed, for the rumours spread that the mythical Founders have awoken and have returned to rule their Childer with iron fists. While seers may scream of the Final Nights others truly wonder if Gehenna is nigh… or have the Ancients returned merely to overseee another play in the great Jyhad.

The Kindred of Carlisle have much to contend with, pledged to the Baronies of Avalon by the loyalty of the Iron Duke Hancock of Clan Nosferatu. Their home rests scant miles from the borders of the Protectorate of Caledonia, lupines roam the countryside of the borders and the city itself is a viper's nest of supernatural activity and conflict. Beset on every side all the Kindred can do is keep the Masquerade intact and assert their place at the top of the food chain.

Here the power ploys of the undead clash with those of scheming mages, ferocious werewolves and Fae beings older than time itself. Above all else, the Kindred continue to be their own worst enemies.

This is Carlisle, the Crucible of Monsters.
