(Un)Alive & Active

  • Markus. Tremere. The former Regent of Carlisle's chantry, Markus has since been promoted to the position of the Lord of Northern England within his Clan. Although his base of operations has been relocated to Newcastle, he still makes semi-regular visits to Carlisle, and still holds a good deal of influence among the city's mortal institutions. Markus claims much of the credit for having recaptured Carlisle from the Sabbat in 1894.
  • Bartholomew. Tzimisce. The former Archbishop of Carlisle. Ancient, powerful and utterly ruthless, with a fondness for torture and "experimentation". Seemingly returned from the dead by means of obscure Koldunic magics, Bartholomew has laid claim to the domains of west Cumbria. Given the current upheavals in Kindred society, a new Tzimisce Voivodate could be on the rise...
  • Anton de Sylvaine. Lasombra. An Autarkis bounty-hunter who first arrived in Carlisle on the trail of the flesh-crafter William Wolfwood. Over the following months Anton has established himself in Carlisle and has taken on a handful of contracts since his arrival. Came under a certain degree of mistrust after his assassination of Colonel William Fitzgerald on behalf of the Ventrue Wesley Thulman, but has since become an accepted (if not particularly well liked) member of the court, and has publically revealed his Lasombra origins. Seems to be versed in a wide variety of Disciplines, and possesses exceptional combat prowess. Something of a celebrity among professional killers in supernatural society.
  • Sir Daniel. Brujah. A representative of a mysterious order called the Knights of the Bitter Ashes. Sir Daniel arrived in Carlisle looking to examine some of the city's Thin-Blooded vampires, believing that one or more of them hold information which his order must retrieve. However powerful the Knights may be, they are keeping their relations with Carlisle diplomatic for the time being.
  • Aidan, the Balance Keeper. Mummy(?). A supposedly immortal being reputed to be an ancient Celtic King, the man known as Aidan has interfered in Kindred matters on various occassions down the centuries, sometimes to help and other times to hinder. He is believed to be dedicated to upholding some ideal of spiritual balance, and was instrumental in brokering the Kindred/Lupine alliance which saw to the destruction of Lykos.
  • Lucien. Demon(?). For all appearances Lucien is simply a very well-connected mortal who does people favours in exchange for unspecified prices. However, stories do get around of mortals who have gained clearly supernatural benefits from dealing with him. Whatever prices Lucian charges for his “favours”, his modus operandi shows little to suggest that his intentions are good. Those who deal with him do so at their peril.
  • The Fae. Eldritch creatures who inhabit a disturbing parallel world, the Fae have become increasingly meddlesome in the affairs of Carlisle's vampires. Three particular individuals of note are known respectively as the Old Man of the Hollow, the Child-Eater and the Lady of Spite, although the city's own former Malkavian Doctor J has been confirmed to have joined their numbers.
  • The Angels. Carlisle Theosophical Society seems to play host to three of these curious beings. They appear as winged humanoids of exceptional strength and mystical power, and have described themselves variously as the "clerks" and "caretakers" of reality. Few have dared to investigate what these seemingly divine beings may be up to in Carlisle.
  • Shadow Branch. A secretive bureau of the British Government, HM Shadow Branch have become increasingly involved in Kindred affairs. Founded originally in the 1860s by Queen Victoria, Shadow Branch uses an array of high-tech equipment to study and manipulate the paranormal. They have developed some truly fearsome weaponry for use against supernatural foes, as well as holding a current monopoly on the ability to manipulate the city's dimensional Rift.

Dead, Torpid & Missing

  • Alistair Drake. Tzimisce. Bartholomew's protege and a skilled Koldunic sorcerer. Destroyed by the combined efforts of William Wolfwood and Nicholas Negroni during a battle with the Sabbat.
  • Lord William Balfour. Gangrel. The ancient and slightly insane Laird of Carlisle. Always an advocate of order, reason and scholarship, he kept the city safe from the Sabbat's crusades for over a century before allowing his personal rivalry with Bartholomew to compromise his judgement. He is also believed to be destroyed.
  • Nest. Nosferatu. The oldest and most powerful vampire in Cumbria by quite a margin, Nest has been walking the nights for at least a millennium and likely even longer. Currently in Torpor, though as with any Methuselah it is questionable as to how much the death-sleep actually prevents him from influencing night-to-night affairs even now. He (it?) was nominally in support of the Camarilla while active, but few had any illusions that Nest's true loyalty was to anyone but himself.
  • Alejandro Pierce. Lasombra. A Sabbat agent who spent some time infiltrating the court of Carlisle, this young Lasombra appears to have since moved on from the city. What objectives he came here to achieve are anyone's guess, but he did not seem to be too greatly involved in Bartholomew and Alistair Drake's crusade against the Camarilla.
  • Rotherford Black. Tremere. A powerful visitor from the nation's capital, Rotherford was one of his Clan's most potent enforcers and a personal "troubleshooter" for Queen Anne Bowesley of London. Initially arriving in Carlisle to determine whether the city was likely to fall to the Sabbat and decide if a team of Archons should be sent to place Carlisle under lockdown, this elder blood sorcerer continued to reside in the city in order to conduct some personal research. He was apparently assassinated by a group of Changelings, though questions have been raised over who else was involved in his death.
  • "Borderer". Werewolf. A veteran of William Balfour's centuries-old war against the the Lupines, the werewolf known as Borderer loathed the Kindred with a passion. In the end, however, the steadily increasing power of his other enemies drove him to strike a temporary alliance with the vampires. He was slain in battle with the werewolf known as Lykos.
  • Lykos. Werewolf. A corrupt and evil individual who attempted to use Carlisle's vampires to detsroy his rival, Borderer. He arguably succeeded in this endeavour, but was in turn slain by Dante Giovanni del Borgia and Nicholas Negroni.
  • Victor Pryce. Mage. Carlisle's most powerful resident mortal wizard, he successfully maintained a peace accord with the city's vampires for several decades. Following an incident in which the city was temporarily pulled through a spacio-temporal rift and landed in Arcadia, Pryce was murdered by unknown assailants not long after.
  • The Trio. Demons. Three demons who take the form of a Jaguar, a Black Caiman and a Bôto Dolphin. Between them they have transformed Carlisle's Rickerby Park into a habitat resembling South American tropical rainforest. Their activities pose an increasing threat to the Masquerade, but if they have a greater agenda, it is unkown.
