The name of Clan Ventrue in Carlisle is synonymous with arrogance, bluster and overconfidence. The fortunes of the Clan of Kings have risen and fallen dramatically in the short space of time since the disappearance of William Balfour, with almost all of its members meeting less-than-pleasant demises.

Beatrice Haughan vanished without trace, only to have her money and influences usurped by Sir Tristan Kael. Colonel William Fitzgerald was slain in what is widely considered the clumsiest assassination conspiracy in Carlisle's history, after his Clan mate Wesley Thulman hired a long chain of middlemen (including Thomas Kurnin) to destroy him. Sebastian Quentin Baldwin still makes his presence felt in the city's games of influence, but appears to have retreated from courtly gatherings.

Whether the Ventrue will ever fully re-establish themselves in Carlisle is debatable. It has been whispered by many that the court has grown sick of blustering autocrats who lean upon their Clan's noble reputation and demand power and responsibility which exceeds their capabilities. Only time will tell whether the Blue Bloods will ever regain their former place as Carlisle's primary dealers with the mortal world.
